Things I like

Here is a list of my favorite things in the world.  I hope that you find my “like list” helpful and you are able to keep coming back as I continue to like more things!

GTD

Getting Things Done, or GTD, is an in depth systematic way in which a person manages work and life’s challenges.  I was turned on to GTD as I continued to advance in my career and my scope of duties with it.  GTD does come with a learning curve and it takes most people about a month to start getting it.

7 Habits of Highly Effective People

Freedcamp

The guys at 37Signals have greatly helped to revolutionize web 2.o.  It’s just that web 2.0 is so… well… 2.0 and paying for stuff online just sucks.  Nowadays, for every website or online app that costs money, there is a direct alternative very similar in functionality with a cost of $0.  And that is what Freedcamp is to 37Signals Project Management web app, BaseCamp.  All the great functionality of Basecamp but less the cost.  I really love this online app and highly endorse the product.

Google Code  University

There are many resources available on the internet and if it were not for the regulating bodies providing oversight and the piece of paper that comes with it, a college degree just doesn’t mean as much as it used to… well, maybe it still has some importance.  Nonetheless, one of the great online resources (read: free) that provides an incredibly high level of knowledge on anything online and coding is Google Code University (GCU).  GCU has an abundance of classes, both written and videos, that can help the inspiring developer or coder reach his fullest potential.
