Nothing like sheer terror to not only focus one on the immediate emergency but to stick with you for days and realize how little all the "trappings" in life mean. When we got to the ER we were crying like crazy but after talking to the nurse I questioned as to whether I should have been so broken up considering the nurse's experience with her child eating everything! Thank God she is ok but trust me I know its a horrific thing to go through. Unfortunately, sometimes it takes a tragedy, even a small one, to wake us up so to speak to get us to spend more quality time. With four kids of our own, Rick & I have been in similar situations a time or two. It's not fun and it shakes you to your core. But we like to think that each time one of these "tragedies" hits we've come out the other side stronger & a little bit wiser. Braelyn is so young so I'm sure this is just the beginning of her emergency room rap sheet! There are going to bumps, bruises, falls & accidents along the way. You CAN NOT beat yourselves up over it!! You can't put her in a bubble. (even though I've contemplated it many times the pediatrician assures me its not the way to go) But what you can do is learn from it. She's going to get into things it's what kids do. And just when you think you've seen it all, she's going to do something that just blows you away. The only thing you can do is love her through the bad times along with the good and learn from your mistakes and those of others along the way.
